LifeMD Review: The $39 Weight Plan That Buys No Medication

Two bills, and only one of them is LifeMD's. The care is $39 for your first month and $149 a month after that. The medication is separate: $199 a month for the Wegovy pen as an introductory rate for new self-pay patients, $499 in the only other pen figure LifeMD publishes, $149 for the oral pill at 1.5 mg and 4 mg rising to $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg, and $349 for a Zepbound vial. So the number that matters is the sum — $238 to start and $648 a month ongoing for the pen, $188 then $448 for the pill, $388 then $498 for the vial. All read off lifemd.com on August 9, 2026.

Two reasons, and they compound. The first is that it is a first month only: LifeMD's own footnote says "the monthly program & provider fee of $149 (first month discounted to $39 today)", so month two costs $110 more than month one. The second is larger, and LifeMD puts it in its Terms rather than its adverts: "Unless you have opted into a Medication-included Sub-program, the LifeMD Weight Management Program does NOT include the cost of medication, which is paid for separately." Neither $39 nor $149 buys a single dose of anything.

Clinical care and administration, and it is a genuinely substantial bundle: consultations with a provider from LifeMD's affiliated medical group, ongoing follow-ups, the lab work the programme requires, health coaching and metabolic testing, a prescription if one is appropriate, and — unusually for this category — real insurance work, including a benefit check and prior-authorisation support run through LifeMD's pharmacy partner. If your plan covers a GLP-1, that last item is the most valuable thing on the list; LifeMD quotes an average copay of $0–$25 for patients it gets approved. Priced against what it is, $149 is defensible. It is only misleading when a $39 badge sits at the top of a page about Wegovy.

From LifeMD's own hero marquee, and nowhere else. The strip of claim chips at the top of the weight-management page is duplicated so it can scroll seamlessly, and the two copies disagree: the first prints "Wegovy® Pen Starting At Just $199", the second "Wegovy® Pen Starting At Just $499". All 192 non-blog pages in LifeMD's sitemap were fetched and searched with HTML comments stripped, and "$499" appears on that one page and no other — no footnote, no body copy, no dose page. Since the ‡ marker attaches only to the $199 and explicitly calls it "initial" pricing for new patients, the $499 is the only ongoing pen price LifeMD publishes, and that is what the walk-away column uses. It deserves the caveat that LifeMD never once says "then $499".

At two strengths out of four. LifeMD gives each dose its own page and prices them honestly there: 1.5 mg is $149, 4 mg is $149, 9 mg is $299 and 25 mg is $299. The headline "starting at $149" is true and the ladder is published, which is more than most of this category manages — but the "All Dose Options" page also leads with $149, and anyone who titrates upward ends at double the number they were quoted. Add the $149 programme fee and a maintenance dose of the pill is $448 a month.

This is the weakest disclosure on the site. LifeMD advertises "Zepbound® Vial Starting At $349/mo" in the same rotating marquee as the $499, and publishes no second Zepbound figure anywhere — no dose ladder, no dedicated page, no footnote. There is no page at /weight-management/zepbound; that URL returns the homepage, and so does a deliberately invented URL under the same path, so the site soft-404s and the absence is real rather than a fetching error. "Starting at" is therefore a promise with nothing behind it: $498 all-in is a floor, and there is no way to find out what a maintenance dose costs before you have paid the programme fee.

Because LifeMD uses it for two different things. Its FAQ says the programme "starts as low as $75/month (annual plan)" — an annual commitment divided down. Its ‡ footnote on the NovoCare page and all five pill pages says the programme fee is "$149 (discounted to $75 today)" — a first-month promotion. And its membership page simply prints "Care Starting at $75 /month" under Weight Management with no mention of an annual plan or a discount at all. Three documents, one number, three meanings. The figure all four sources agree on is the ongoing month-to-month rate of $149, which is what this review uses.

Yes, everywhere. LifeMD says so four separate ways in its own copy — "Available in all 50 states", a medical team "licensed to practice in all 50 states", providers "accessible 24/7 in all 50 states", and a "50-state medical group" in the boilerplate on every page — and unlike a bare marketing claim this one has structure behind it: the Terms name nine regional professional entities, and the telehealth consent carries disclosures written to satisfy 21 individually named states' laws. The one thing that does change by state is lab billing. If you live in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, the lab bills you directly for programme testing and the at-home kit is not available to you.

No. The live warning-letter index was queried on August 9, 2026 as "lifemd" (0 results), "lifemd pharmacy" (0), "worksimpli" (0), and "conversion labs" (0) — that last one being LifeMD's former corporate name, which the company still confirms itself by serving every image in its intake funnel from a Cloudinary account named conversion-labs-inc. The deliberately broad "life md" tokenises and returned 78 letters, all of which came back in one response rather than paged; every one was re-checked against the company column and not a single row contains the name. They are tobacco, medical-device and food letters. A positive control returned SkinnyRx's February 2026 letter in the same pass, so the absence is a result and not a failed query. It is also unsurprising: this enforcement wave has been aimed at compounded private-label GLP-1s, and LifeMD sells only the branded, FDA-approved drugs.

You can cancel at any time from the patient portal — My account, then Billing & Card, then Cancel/Pause Subscription — or by email, and no further programme fees are charged. What you will not get is money back. The Terms are capitalised: "UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE", and there is a specific trap in the onboarding rules — if you do not complete the medical assessment, labs and consultation the programme requires, you are expressly ineligible for a refund of the fees you have already paid. There is a genuine money-back guarantee running the other way, tied to results rather than to change of mind: fail to lose 10% of your body weight in a year and you may claim a refund, subject to its own terms.
